Hispanic Youth Research & Leadership Program

MISSION

Our goal is to focus first-generation and low-income youth on the opportunities in pursuing a degree and the careers available in the STEM fields.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Participants will live on campus for 9 days/8 nights and experience the academic and social life the university offers. The summer session consists of college preparation workshops and presenters, leadership skills activities, team-building activities, research course and research project. Students will also visit the School of Engineering, School of Medicine and other UNM Programs to learn more about the opportunities within the STEM field and the requirements for entering those programs and careers. On the final day of the camp students will present a research to students within the program and UNM staff/faculty.

  • Current Freshman, Sophomores & Juniors

  • Low-income or First-generation or Underrepresented population

  • NM Residents
